Prison Architect is a private prison construction and management simulation video game developed and published by Introversion Software.[2] It was made available as a crowdfundedpaid alpha pre-order on September 25, 2012 with updates scheduled every three to four weeks.[3] With over 2,000,000 copies sold, Prison Architect made over US$10.7 million in pre-order sales for the alpha version.[4] Prison Architect was an entrant in the 2012 Independent Games Festival.[5]
The game was available on Steam's Early Access program, and was officially released on October 6, 2015.

Gameplay[edit]

The game is a top-down 2D (with a partially 3D mode)[6] construction and management simulation where the player takes control of building and running a prison. The player is responsible for managing various aspects of their prison including building cells and facilities, planning and connecting utilities, hiring and assigning staff, including a warden, guards, workers, and more. The player needs to recruit staff to unlock more aspects of the game. The player is also responsible for the finance, and keeping their inmates content. The player's role is of both architect and governor with sandbox micromanagement themes such as choosing where to put lights, drains and how they connect together. The player is also able to add workshops to the prison as well as reform programs that reduce the specific prisoner's recidivism rate. The player tells the prisoners what to do indirectly by setting their schedule.[7] The game takes inspiration from Theme HospitalDungeon Keeper, and Dwarf Fortress.[8] The player can also allow temperature, gangs, and more to add extra difficulty.
The first "official" (non-beta) release introduced an expanded story mode as a tutorial and an escape mode which depicts the player as prisoner with the goal of escape, causing as much trouble as possible.[9]

Development[edit]

Prison Architect was developed by British video game studio Introversion Software. The game was announced in October 2011, shortly after Introversion postponed the development of their bank heist simulator game Subversion.[10] The game was first made available on September 25, 2012 as an Alpha version.[3] The game was then crowdfunded with pre-orders, making over US$270,000 in two weeks with close to 8,000 sales.[11] Developer's co-founder Mark Morris explains that independent crowd-funding has allowed them to have no time limit on the Alpha version, as well as no fees associated with crowd-funding platforms.[11] As of December 2013, the developers have raised over US$9 million.[12]
Introversion Software announced that a mobile version of the game is in development[13] and the PC version of the game officially launched on October 6, 2015.[14][15] In Introversion's alpha 30 video,[16] they confirmed Prison Architect was coming to iOS and Android in October 2015 with the games official release. The developers posted a tweet on March 21, 2013], that "I guess Prison Architect won't be coming to iPad then! YOUR LOSS APPLE", with a link to a Pocket Gamer article.[17][18] It was later revealed by the developer that the original direct port did not impress Apple. Due to the concern of it might not be featured on AppStore front page the project was set aside for a while.[19] The effort to bring Prison Architect to mobile devices was resumed by Paradox Interactive as the publisher and co-developed with Tag Games. The tablet version for iPad and Android tablet was launched on May 25, 2017. [20] Introversion announced on January 20, 2016 that Double Eleven would be bringing the game to Xbox 360Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. The console versions were released on June 28, 2016.[21]
As of January 2018, the latest version is Update 13, released on December 19, 2017.[22]

Upon its full release, the game received positive reviews, scoring 83 out of 100 on review aggregator site Metacritic.[23] IGN awarded it a score of 8.3 out of 10, saying "Prison Architect is one of the most in-depth, satisfying builder games in ages, if you can get past the initiation."[25] On April 7, 2016, Prison Architect won the 2016 BAFTA award in the Persistent Game category.[26] Prison Architect was also nominated for the 2016 BAFTA award in the British Game category, which was won by Batman: Arkham Knight.

GAME INFO:
Don Bradman Cricket 14 (re-release retitled Don Bradman Cricket) is a cricket video game for the PlayStation 3Xbox 360Microsoft WindowsPlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was developed by Big Ant Studios and published by Tru Blu Entertainment.[1] The game was originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in various countries that compete in cricket in April 2014; it was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 11 February 2015.[3][4] Its sequel Don Bradman Cricket 17 was released on 16 December 2016.

Features[edit]

  • The game features a number of different game modes, including a career mode, custom matches and online games. The career mode involves a user creating a player don bradman cricket 14 has a maximum of a 20-year career. There is also a Cricket Academy program in which a user can create and edit teams, players and competitions. This was released as a stand-alone game before the console release date. The game contains the original cricket stats of every player and they can be modified too. Each cricketer face is created in a realistic way to experience a new feel. Big Ant Studios updated the academy and brought the 'Practice Nets' feature into it in the weeks prior to the launch of the full game. The gameplay features were announced as having "Unique Batting and Bowling Controls" with a full 360 shot delivery with no shot markers. The gameplay also involves a "Fully featured Fielding System" which allows "full control of the field". The Ball Physics in the game has been labelled as having "realistic edges and ball movement off players". Appeal and Electric Reviews have also been included into the game, which enables a user to challenge the umpire for a decision in which is questionable. There are Practice nets and Match practice which are new features to the game and are supposed to help a new 'cricketing gamer' to play the game. Users can also save games online and offline. The commentary team consists of Matthew Hill and David Basheer.[5]
There are 11 unlicensed grounds within the game, with 2 licensed. The game includes 79 teams within the game, most of which are unlicensed. There are 17 international teams, 6 Australian domestic teams, 18 English domestic, along with "All time best" teams and "historical" teams.[6]

Development[edit]

According to Ross Symons, CEO of Big Ant Studios, development of the game was hindered by the parallel development of Ashes Cricket 2013, an officially licensed rival cricket game. Symons claims that the developers of Ashes Cricket 2013 applied pressure via the Australian Cricket Board to warn various partners off his game, while the eventual poor reception to Ashes Cricket 2013 forced him to delay Don Bradman Cricket 14 as not to be caught up in the controversy.[7]

New features[edit]

Windows[edit]

New features in the Windows release include the ability to create, open, edit, and save files in the cloud straight from the desktop, a new search tool for commands available in WordPowerPointExcel and Outlooknamed "Tell Me", more "Send As" options in Word and PowerPoint, and co-authoring in real time with users connected to Office Online.[13][14][15] Other smaller features include Insights, a feature powered by Bing to provide contextual information from the web, a Designer sidebar in PowerPoint to optimize the layout of slides, new chart types and templates in Excel (such as treemapsunburst chart (also known as a ring chart), waterfall chartbox plot and histogram, and financial and calendar templates), new animations in PowerPoint (such as the Morph transition), the ability to insert online video in OneNote, and a data loss preventionfeature in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.[14][15]
Microsoft Office 2016 cannot coexist with Microsoft Office 2013 apps, but it can coexist with earlier versions of Microsoft Office, such as 2003, 2007, and 2010.[16] Microsoft offers to freely replace these older 2013 versions with an updated version.[17]

Mac[edit]

New features in the Mac release include an updated user interface that uses ribbons, full support for Retina Display, and new sharing features for Office documents.[11][18]
In Word, there is a new Design tab, an Insights feature, which is powered by Bing, and real-time co-authoring. In Excel, there is a Recommended Charts feature, and PivotTable Slicers. In PowerPoint, there are theme variants, which provide different color schemes for a theme. In Outlook, there is a Propose New Time feature, the ability to see calendars side by side, and a weather forecast in the calendar view.[18]
Outlook 2016 for Mac has very limited support for synchronization of collaboration services outside basic email.[19]
With version 15.25, Office for Mac transitioned from 32-bit to 64-bit by default.[20] Users that require a 32-bit version for compatibility reasons will be able to download the 15.25 version as a one-time update manually from the Microsoft Office website.[21] All versions following 15.25 will be 64-bit only.[21] Office for Mac got Touch Bar support in an update on February 16, 2017, as promised on the launch of 2016 MacBook Pro models.

Editions[edit]

Traditional editions[edit]

As with previous versions, Office 2016 is made available in several distinct editions aimed towards different markets. All traditional editions of Microsoft Office 2016 contain WordExcelPowerPoint and OneNote and are licensed for use on one computer.[22][23]
Five traditional editions of Office 2016 were released for Windows:
  • Home & Student: This retail suite includes the core applications only.[22]
  • Home & Business: This retail suite includes the core applications and Outlook.[22]
  • Standard: This suite, only available through volume licensing channels, includes the core applications, as well as Outlook and Publisher.[24]
  • Professional: This retail suite includes the core applications, as well as Outlook, Publisher and Access.[22]
  • Professional Plus: This suite, only available through volume licensing channels, includes the core applications, as well as Outlook, Publisher, Access and Skype for Business.[24]
Three traditional editions of Office 2016 were released for Mac:
  • Home & Student: This retail suite includes the core applications only.[23]
  • Home & Business: This retail suite includes the core applications and Outlook.[23]
  • Standard: This suite, only available through volume licensing channels, includes the core applications and Outlook.[24]

Office 365[edit]

The Office 365 subscription services, which were previously aimed towards business and enterprise users, were expanded for Office 2016 to include new plans aimed at home use. The subscriptions allow use of the Office 2016 applications by multiple users using a software as a service model. Different plans are available for Office 365, some of which also include value-added services, such as 1 TB of OneDrive storage and 60 Skype minutes per month on the Home Premium plan.

Design[edit]

The user interface design of Office 2016 for Windows is relatively unchanged from its predecessor, Microsoft Office 2013. It retains the flat design that was introduced along with the Metro design language, albeit a few modifications to the layout are made, in order to conform with the design of Microsoft Office Mobile.[25] When Office 2016 was released, it came with three themes. The default theme, known as "colorful", features a solid color on the top band of the ribbon, corresponding to the color of the Office application being used, for example, a solid dark blue is featured prominently in Microsoft Word. The theme had been described as useful in making the tab headings more distinct.[26] In addition, both the "white" and "dark grey" themes from Office 2013 are available as well, though no new backgrounds have been added, nor have any existing backgrounds been removed.[26] A fourth "black" theme was added as part of an update in January 2016.[27] The update was not released to users of the traditional editions.[15]
